Q: Who needs to register for the hikes?
A: All young men planning to attend must register.
Q: What is the cost of the hikes?
A: The cost is $175 to cover the main hike and the practice hikes.
The cost will cover the main food, camp/hiking fees and permits, and other general costs. This does not cover the cost of any equipment for individuals and does not cover the cost of additional food each individual may bring.
Please use a donation slip and write “AP 4th Year Hike” in the “Other” section. Camp/Hike fees cannot be paid using the online donation system. Checks should be made out to the church and given to a member of the bishopric.
Q: What do I bring?
A: All gear per the packing list.
Q: Will allergies and other special food needs be covered for the hike?
A: Yes! We will be sure to take care of all allergies and dietary needs, as reported on registration.
Q: Why do I need to attend an overnight practice hike with a full backpack?
A: A practice hikes is a good way to learn your ability, learn how to use your gear, and know how much you can carry. Based on the practice hike, you will know what you need to adjust for the main hike.
Q: What if I don't have some of the camping supplies (tent, camp chair, etc.) on the pack list?
A: If you don't have access to camping supplies and need help obtaining them, please reach out to friends, family, and ward members. Try to borrow as much as possible. The hike leaders will also help find equipment so you can limit what you may need to purchase on your own.
Q: Can hikers bring a cell phone?
A: No.
